The Village Preservation Society of East Hampton celebrated the winners of the 2023 Historic Preservation Award at its annual meeting and Historic Preservation Award ceremony at the Tennis House on Saturday, September 9. It marked the fifth anniversary of the inauguration of the award, and the society celebrated past and present winners.
A talk on the value of historic preservation to communities was given by renowned historic preservationist Frank Sanchis. Sanchis retired from the World Monuments Fund in June 2021, where he served as regional director for North America. With over 50 years of experience in architecture, preservation, and planning, he holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Pratt Institute and an master’s in historic preservation from Columbia University. Before joining the World Monuments Fund, he served as executive director of the Municipal Art Society, among many other notable achievements in historic preservation.
